PBA(Philippine Basketball Association)

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of ten company-branded franchised teams. It was the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second oldest in the world after the NBA. The league's regulations are a hybrid of rules from FIBA and the NBA. The league played its first game at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on April 9, 1975. Its individual team offices are directed out of PBA head offices located in Eastwood City in Quezon City. The league is currently headed by Commissioner Chito Salud.

Meralco Bolts

The MERALCO Bolts[1][2] are a professional basketball team playing in the Philippine Basketball Association. The franchise began in 2010 when the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) acquired the PBA franchise of the Sta. Lucia Realtors.[3] The team is one of two PBA teams under the control of businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan - the other team being the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings

The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is a professional basketball team playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) since 1979. It is the most popular PBA team[1] and currently holds eight PBA titles. The team is owned by the Ginebra San Miguel, Inc. (formerly, La Tondeña Distillers, Inc.), a subsidiary of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The team is one of three PBA ball clubs currently owned by the SMC group of companies, along with San Mig Coffee Mixers and the Petron Blaze Boosters. La Tondeña, Inc. (renamed, La Tondeña Distillers, Inc., after SMC acquired majority control in 1987) joined the PBA in 1979 as an expansion team. After some rough times during their first few seasons, their fortunes changed when Robert Jaworski and Francis Arnaiz arrived in 1984, following the disbandment of the famed Toyota Super Corollas. As player-coach, Jaworski steered the franchise to four PBA titles between 1986 and 1997. In the post-Jaworski era, coaches Jong Uichico and Siot Tanquingcen led the franchise to four more titles.

Barako Bull Energy Cola

The Barako Bull Energy Cola is a Philippine Basketball Association team that began in 2002. Barako Bull is owned by Energy Food and Drinks Inc., a subsidiary of the Linaheim Corporate Services, owners of the defunct Laguna Lakers of the Metropolitan Basketball Association. The franchise bought the former Tanduay team after the 2001 season. From its first season until 2005, the team was dubbed as the FedEx Express before changing to Air21 Express. From the 2009 PBA Fiesta Conference until the 2009-10 PBA Philippine Cup, it became known as the Burger King Titans. However, when manager Mikee Romero decided to pull out of the team, they were reorganized and renamed the Burger King Whoppers before returning to their original name starting the 2010 PBA Fiesta Conference. However, Air21 changed its name to Barako Bull Energy after the Lina Group bought the original Barako Bull franchise and 49 percent stake of Energy Food and Drinks Inc., the owner of the Barako Bull franchise and the exclusive distributor of Red Bull Energy Drink products in the Philippines. They added the word 'cola' to their team name in order to promote their new softdrink product.

Air21 Express

The Air21 Express is a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team that debuted on the 2011–12 PBA season. The team debuted as the Shopinas.com Clickers during the 2011–12 PBA Philippine Cup.

Global Port Batang Pier

The GlobalPort Batang Pier is a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team that first played in the 2012–13 PBA season. The team took over the franchise of the Powerade Tigers in 2012 after it was sold to Sultan 900 Capital, Inc. Besides GlobalPort, team owner Mikee Romero also co-owned the AirAsia Philippine Patriots of the ASEAN Basketball League. But since the Philippine Patriots team took an indefinite leave of absence in the ABL, Romero now owns only the GlobalPort team.

TalkN' Text Tropang Texters

The Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters are a professional basketball team owned by Smart Communications, a subsidiary of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) since 1990. The franchise began in 1990 when Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. (PCPPI) acquired a PBA franchise. Under PCPPI, the franchise played under the names Pepsi and 7 Up. In 1996, the franchise came under the control of Pilipino Telephone Corporation (Piltel) and played under the name Mobiline. In 2001, the franchise was renamed Talk 'N Text after the operations of Piltel was absorbed by Smart Communications. The team is currently one of two PBA teams under the control of businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan - the other team being the MERALCO Bolts. To date, the franchise has won six official PBA titles (and one special PBA tournament championship) and remains as one of the league's powerhouses.
